Review of Delano Hotel in Las Vegas – October 2018

Review of Delano Hotel in Las Vegas – October 2018

We are here with another visit to our home away from home!

Booking:

I decided to book on the lhrcollection.com (with Chase Sapphire Reserve card) They had a spectacular deal where we can get a resort credit of $150 that can be used at Mandalay Bay or Delano. This also included $30 credit per person/per night that can be used at Della’s Kitchen or Room Service.

I was able to book 2 rooms one for us and one for the grandparents. It seemed like Delano didn’t care so we were able to double dip with the Resort credits!!!

The full details of the included amenities:

Continental Breakfast for each guest daily at Della’s Kitchen. Also available through room service

($30 maximum breakfast credit, per guest, per day, based on single/double occupancy for a maximum of two guests)

$100 Food & Beverage credit, per room, per stay

$5.00 daily WiFi credit applied to daily resort fee only (Subject to applicable tax and applied to room folio at check-out)

Pre-arrival Service Call **
Manager Meet & Greet (Estimated arrival time must be provided 24 hours in advanced)
The following amenities are subject to availability at the time of check-in/departure:
Upgrade (No upgrade above Panoramic Suite)
Early Check-In
Late Check-Out

Delano is by far very under-rated as a hotel. They don’t get much promotion since it is a non-casino/non-smoking hotel. But the Architecture and artwork displayed all around the hotel is fantastic seen here.

Shows:

Ever since a little boy I wanted to go to Tournament of Kings at Excalibur. Of course when I was little my parents always told me it is too expensive. My time has finally come. I went with my wife and we went to the 7pm show and sat in the Irish section. When you buy tix on mlife you can pick the country of Origin of the King and cheer him on in your assigned section. Great concept! The show was pretty good, they had a flamethrower and fireworks as well. The food was quite mediocre, but they did give a good portion. The tickets were 50% off as I had a deal on the MyVegas app.

We did pay an additional $30 for a strip view upgrade seen here which was worth it.

The location was great as it is a 45 second to walk to Mandalay Bay

Food:

The Food Credit we got was more than enough, we had the ability to use anywhere in Delano or Mandalay Bay. The restaurant choices at Mandalay are huge.

We ate at:

Slice of Vegas – Fairly good pizza, but we got it coming back from the Tournament of Kings show. So a bit unsure how long it was sitting out. We did bring it back to our 2-year-old son, and a few hours later he ended up barfing it up.

Della’s kitchen – This was great, we got the food once to go and ate in another time. Food was excellent, but service was a bit slow. The coffee there was blech. I would advise going next door to 3940 Coffee and Tea.

Yojie Japanese Fondue – Really a hidden gem, comedian Jo Koy’s restaurant. We had a great experience there, their setup was all bar tops. So we sat on the lower ones. My wife and I also announced to my parents that we have our next baby on the way in a surprise dessert fashion. The manager there took great care of us and even cried too!

The gym at Delano was very nice, very modern and small but has all the necessary equipment for every style. I was a huge fan of their mountain climber grips for pull-ups.

We had access to the 2 pools at Mandalay Bay. We only experienced the big wave pool since my son did love the waves knocking him over. Here he is with his grandpa.

Lastly, we did have a drink on the rooftop bar Rivea which has expensive drinks but one of the most breathtaking views of the strip.

Overall, Delano is now my new favorite hotel, great service backed with fantastic ambience makes this hotel one that I will be 100% returning to in the future!
